    POST SURGERY BLUES

Tuesday, November 27, 2007, 11:15 PM AWST [General]

I HAD A CLIENT TODAY IN AN URGENT SITUATION .

SHE HAD A SURGERY TO REMOVE PILES ( HAMERROIDS - Spelling ?) 2 WEEKS AGO AND HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE TO PASS FAECES . IT'S VERY PAINFUL AND SHE ENDS UP IN THE DOCTORS TO GET HELP TO REMOVE FAECES . SHE'S IN FEAR TO GO NOW AND WANTED HELP TO RELAX THE MUSCLES IN THE ANUS .

I DID AN INSTANT INDUCTION FOLLOWED BY PART OF A 'HEALING' SCRIPT BY GERRY KEIN ( DIABETES TAPE) . FOLLOWED THIS WITH TAKING HER BACK TO A TIME WHEN SHE WAS SAFE , RELAXED AND IN CONTROL ( I could see that she was in fear , helpless (her word) ) - she was in her mum's arms . I anchored this mentally , physically in the area she felt it and expanded it to her whole being - emphasising that this was her natural state and she was in control of it . She could call on it and direct it to any part of her body .  Had her imagine sending the feelings to her anus area the next time she had to go - and it would be natural and effortless . Taught her self hypnosis and asked her to practise 2 / 3 times a day .

This client flatly refused to go 5 path to handle her emotions and was desperate to just have physical relief . Could anyone give any advise . I couldn't turn her down and yet I know she needs 5 path process . Does anyone have a script approach idea for this issue ?

    Hi,
I say you CAN turn her down. You are the expert and you are running the session. I found out the hard way to trust my self and to turn people down if they aren't going to follow instuctions.

    Hello, Manjeet...

I support and empathize with your natural urge to be compassionate...and...I want to you to give yourself permission to ask the universe to send you only those clients who will be helped by YOUR gifts and talents. That's the fancy way of saying: you can say no if you choose to do so, and feel confident that you did the right thing.

For a case like this, I personally would have taken out my bag of EFT tricks and worked through some of these reactions, and the attendant beliefs, with her. At the end of that, if she still didn't have relief from the problem, and if she still didn't want to go through the hypnoanalysis (5 Path), then I would gently tell her that that is all I can offer her at this time.

I will share with you that I have had success with the issue of nervous-fear-anxiety-based constipation by having folks tap on the side of the eye EFT point while they are sitting on the toilet....strange, but it seems to work...every time! go figure. Like many folks in this kind of medical situation, she seems to be having a hard time accepting the amazing power of her own mind to really help or hinder healing.

On the physical side of things, she may benefit from a little help from the old fashioned stewed prune or prune juice regime. Hope this helps,

    Hello Manjeet,

I think you handled the situation very well.

There are some specific recommendations for reducing pain following hemorrhoidectomies on pages of 77 and 78 of the "Big Red Book" (Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Metaphors).

The basic approach is to get the patient to relax and reinforce the suggestion that if she recalls the feeling of relaxation when she moves her bowels again, she will do so pain free. You can also use the Glove of Anthesia technique to help her deal with the discomfort.

I am not trained in 5-Path but am aware of its principals. My personal belief is that abbreactive therapy is not always appropriate or necessary in helping people with their problems.

In this case, there is a clear reason for this women's pain. Deal with the physical pain first, then decide if there is an emotional basis for it.

Hang in there. Check out Ron Eslinger's pain course. tinyurl.com/2tfa74

Show her some physical relief and then she may be willing to do the emotional work.
